Holiday Prosciutto, Taleggio and Sage Twists
The holidays always means hosting family and friends. These twists are easy to put together and are delicious, especially when they come right out of the oven. The best part is that you can make them ahead; freeze them and bake straight from frozen, so whether your guests are planned or unplanned you'll have warm twists at the ready in under 20 minutes. Feel free to get creative with the filling, you can leave out the prosciutto if you want a vegetarian option, or even change up the cheeses and herb, using whatever you have on hand.
20 Twists
Your time: 35 minutes
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Bench flour
8 slices prosciutto
1/2 cup shredded parmesan
1/2 cup cubed taleggio
1 tablespoon chopped sage
1 beaten egg
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper.
2. Dust cutting board with bench flour and then roll puff pastry sheet into a 14x12 inch rectangle. Cut the puff pastry in half so you have two 7x12 inch rectangles. Brush both sides with egg wash.
3. On one half of the puff pastry lay the prosciutto slices side by side evenly across the pastry. Top with shredded parmesan, taleggio and sage. Place the second piece of puff, egg wash side down, on top of the other. Using a rolling pin, gently seal the two pieces of puff together.
4. Using a serrated knife cut the puff into 1/4-inch strips. Twist puff and then lay on prepared sheet tray. Brush tops with egg wash. Bake in oven 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve immediately.
**To make these ahead: Form twists, place on baking sheet and wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Freeze up to two weeks. Place frozen twists directly in oven and bake 18-20 minutes.
